"One of the most interesting performers of cowboy music in the new century is Canada's Jim Reader.  From his material to his gritty delivery of it, he's an original ... cowboy music's Bob Dylan or Neil Young, except Jim hits more of the notes!  Seriously, the depth of thought and guitar technique equate to such artists."

'Rope Burns', 'Classic Country & Western' and 'The Western Way' Magazines

"I get much music across my desk every month and a lot of it is so difficult to listen to.  Jim's 1880's Cowboys CD has been a diamond in the rough this summer for me -- it's a true gem!   It's my pleasure to play it on The Western Music Channel."

This energetic singer/songwriter and his wife Marion, live the western lifestyle in Alberta's foothills, with their cattle, cow-horses, and just one teenager left in the roost (out of five).  Jim is blazing trails on the heels of his 2004 CD, The Bar H, which reached #10 on the Worldwide Roots Music Charts, and is already receiving good reviews about his new 'period' CD 1880's Cowboys which was released July 12, 2008.  In 2005, Jim was a Top 5 Nominee for a "Will Rogers Award", Academy of Western Artists, for Rising Star of the Year.

Many of Jim's songs are tributes to the 'golden years of the true cowboy' -- those rugged times around 1880 that witnessed mind-boggling roundups, huge cattle drives and settlement of the frontier with adventurous characters who remain unmatched in their contribution to North American culture.
