Farewell To The Frontier is a one-man presentation ... a showcase of the internationally recognized songwriting and unique finger-picking guitar style of Jim Reader. Through his music Jim weaves a chronological reflection of major events that defined our western heritage, including an appreciation of today's western lifestyles. The concert meanders through the trails of the Ol' Canadian West and is augmented by a dynamic visual component for each song and story. Jim's goal is to commemorate and honour the memory, contributions and sacrifices of those who blazed the trails before us. The concert can be either a non-stop adventure of seventy-five minutes (Jim's preference) . . .  or two sets split with an intermission.

Following the end of the fur trade and the decimation of the buffalo herds, there came an influx of cattle, cowboys, ranches, immigrants and settlements.  Jim's songwriting follows this transition from
the lost ways of life of Indigenous Peoples; to the cattle drives and roundups; to today's western lifestyles.  Audiences will hear the wind, smell the sage and feel the trail-dust!  This enlightening concert presentation includes over 500 vibrant photos, artwork and graphics that augment every song and poem.
